On July 25, 2014, it moved from Makarov Branch to Happiness, and from there to Luhansk Airport in order to unlock the route to the Ukrainian units defending the airport. The place of the branch of Nicholas Jets arrived in the morning of July 26. In the middle of the same day, the soldiers were ordered to fix themselves at an altitude near the village of Krasne (Krasnodon district). The group in which Nicholas was 15 minutes after arriving at the site came under fire from mortars and "Gradov". A shot from the ATGM damaged a tank that could no longer fight. After receiving the order, the group moved towards Lugansk airport, but was ambushed. The military jumped out of the BMP and started fighting. Nicholas covered his comrades and was mortally wounded while providing emergency medical care to a seriously injured comrade. The bodies of the dead, Mykola Bruy and Yuri Koval, were taken out to Krasnodon, only a few days later they were able to be transported to Chernihiv via the territory of the Russian Federation, with the help of the Freya ritual agency from the town of Rubizhne.
